Description

About this item The rear upper shock mount is compatibility with for Toyota 4Runner 1996-2002,designed to provide the ultimate in serviceability and suspension performance the 4runner shock relocation kit moves the rear shocks to the outside of the frame rail. By using an eyelet style mount top and bottom, serviceability is greatly improved while shock dampening and efficiency is also dramatically increased by mounting the shock perpendicular to the axle. The rear shock mount relocates the upper mount to the outside of the frame with 4 self threading bolts and/or the mount can be welded for a more secure fit. The mounts are made in the US with 3/16" steel and shipped unpainted. If you want it to be lower, you may cut off the portion on the bottom and move the mount lower.Install the shock and ensure that this is where you want to position the mount before fully welding in place.Weld the mount in place. The shock absorber mounting, also called the top strut mount or shock mount, is the mount that connects the strut or shock absorber to the vehicle's body or frame. Besides ensuring the shock absorber stays in place, the mount also absorbs shocks, vibrations, and noise, preventing them from entering the cabin.Once the surface is cool to the touch, paint the bare metal and reinstall your shocks. Ensure that your tires do not contact the shocks before finishing your installation. Shocks are most efficient when mounted in line with the line of travel. The factory shocks are mounted at an angle and are not as effective during normal driving conditions, the OEM mounting point creates a "bowl". It is common for water to collect here are cause the factory mounting point to rust out, much easier shock access for maintenance. Position the mount,it should be positioned so that the shock mounting surface is in line with the factory shock, mark the outline of the mount with a marker and then remove paint from the area of installation, tack the mount in place and ensure that this is the location that you want it to be in. The stock rear shock location for 4Runner is problematic, especially in areas with high levels of rust. The upper shock often rusts out, and the limited space makes it difficult to install a quality shock. If you want to lift the vehicle and increase its travel capabilities, relocating the shocks becomes a necessity. Luckily, with wheel spacers and offset wheels, there is ample space to move the shocks outboard. › See more product details

Worked great! Make sure to check the angle of the bracket at full compression of the shock before you weld. Oh also comes with bolts but wouldn’t trust those the material is weldable.
