I bought and compared seven different phone holders. This is easily the best you can buy for travel. If you don't care that much about portability, consider getting the ugreen one instead. But that one, and many others I tried, are much thicker. For example, the ugreen is about twice as thick as this one (not including the prongs that hold the phone, which jut out. Including them, it's more like 4x the thickness). This one is about the thickness of 7 credit cards, has a reasonably small footprint, and easily slips into a bag or pocket. There are very few phone holders with this level of portability while still being high quality and highly adjustable.But this one seems to be of high quality build, and surprisingly well designed. The body is a solid hunk of aluminum that appears to have been cnc machined to shape (you can see the tool marks very subtly on the inside). It has both a wide range of angle and height adjustment. One thing that's nice is that both the angle and height adjustment lock into preset positions. Some others, like the meiso phone holder, use hinge friction for adjustment, and that does allow you to set it at any angle. This seems better on the surface, but ive found that over time the hinges wear out, and eventually it can't hold ANY position anymore because it's too loose (especially when holding heavier phones or tablets). So locking into positions is a much better solution for the long termThe only other option that came close is the dtech phone holder. That one is really good too, and on the surface they seem very similar. But this one has a few really clever advantages over that one that are very tough to catch unless you actually use both of them in the real world. For one, this one is designed so that, when deployed, more metal stays on the base. This is a really clever way to give the base more weight and stability without increasing the footprint. It also has more rubber on the bottom, which (combined with the extra weight on the base) makes it noticeably more resistant to sliding around. The dtech allows height adjustment through a locking mechanism that's very stuff, and thats good for long term durability, but it's annoying difficult to move. You will notice how much force it requires to deploy from the first time you use it. It's not the end of the world, but this one solves that problem with a different mechanism that cleverly ratchets. You can easily pull it taller, but it locks so it won't go back down unless you press the release on the back. An awesome solution. Finally, the dtech's prongs (the thing the phone actually sits on) doesn't have a lip (or it has an extremely small one) so the phone is free to slide off. It's not as bad as it sounds since the prongs have a rubbery floor that prevents the phone from sliding, but this one solves that problem entirely by adding a lip that is JUST big enough to catch the phone.Long story short, this thing is the endgame: its just about perfect, and it's clear an unhealthy amount of thought went into refining it. All for a stupid low price. If you want a travel phone or tablet holder, stop looking. You found it.P.s.
